Do You Know You Get to Choose?

During the last few days of 2013, I spent time reorganizing my office closet probably tossing 70% of what I found. Don’t you just love the energy of something fresh and clean and organized to start the New Year?

As the layers of chaos were removed, I found some forgotten gems: Doreen Virtue’s Angel Guidance Board, The Mystic Messenger, The Fairy Tarot, The Truth-Seeker’s Tarot. Apparently I’d run out of room in the drawer that houses the majority of my intuition tools and decided to tuck these on a shelf.

Typically, upon finding these kinds of tools, I’d immediately want to stop the flow of my project and “play” with them. However, this time, I had a completely different reaction.

You see, over the last several months, the Universe has been on a mission to remind me about an essential Truth. Finding these tools allowed the final layer that kept me from completely embodying that Truth for myself, to evaporate.

As I saw those tools, I was immediately transported to the years I spent asking all kinds of questions about what I wanted to create. When was it going to show up? Should I be expecting it soon? Was I right about what I thought? Was it safe to expect that it was showing up for me? Or was I just going to be disappointed again?

All of these questions came from a place of fear. Of feeling not enough. Of feeling powerless. Of feeling separate from the Divine. During that time I snapped up these tools as a way to get connected, to get validated, to try to hear the voice of the Divine. I remember how alone and unsafe I felt. That was a time when I knew enough about the laws of the Universe to beat myself up when I didn’t get what I wanted… and not enough to trust myself or the Divine.

I say this all without any judgment, it’s just a part of the journey.

As I held those tools for the first time in years, I realized I finally fully embodied what the Universe has been showing me in so many different ways over the last few months: I am a powerful creator. I am the most important part of co-creation. I get to choose.

Yes, receiving is a co-creative process with the Divine, and yes, releasing attachment is an important part of the process, and yes often what we ask for shows up in a different way than we’ve originally asked; however, my wants and desires start the process. They start the creative experience.

This is the essential Truth the Universe has been showing me over and over and over again: You are powerful, creative beings. You get to choose.

As I embody this Truth, I’ve never felt the essence of who I am more powerfully. My creativity feels like it has been cracked up in a new way. I’m channeling information from the Divine with a new ease. At the same time I’m aware of my own power, I’ve never felt the presence of the Divine in me more fully. Of course, they are one and the same.
