Is a Sumptuous Life a “Good Enough” Measure of Success?

Close your eyes and feel the word: sumptuous. Isn’t it a rich feeling?

Does it have any place in a definition of success? I would argue that it deserves to be front and center in anyone’s, especially heart and soul based people’s, definition of success.

When I listen to all of the guru’s out there shouting about six figure success, it simply leaves me dry and empty. Not because I’m not interested, not because money isn’t something that I desire, not because I’m not interested in what money will get for me, but rather because it is so one dimensional.

Not only that, but, focusing on the six figures leaves you wide open to base all your worth on how much money is coming in through your bank account, which is naturally going to ebb and flow. Focusing on six figures leaves you wide open to decide that you are less worthy because that idea you had didn’t resonate with your tribe the way you thought that it would. Leaves you wide open to making decisions purely based on money.

Again, money is part of our physical plane experience and we are meant to have as much as we require.

But, the current paradigm is that money is THE measure of success, the ONLY measure of success.

I don’t buy into that, and most heart and soul based people don’t (thankfully, they are helping to slowly shift this paradigm). However, this leaves us hanging a bit… what is the measure of success?

First, it’s personal to each of us.

Once you accept that, now you get to ask the question: “What is success for me?” As I’ve been playing with that question for myself, the word that came up is: sumptuous; rich in all ways.

While I am here on the planet, I want to live from my center, my soul connection. I want to offer my gifts and talents to the world as I lead from my center. As I do this, life and business become intertwined, each one supporting and playing off the other.

Life becomes rich with travel experiences, intellectual experiences, sensory experiences, heart experiences, love experiences, physical experiences, transformational experiences. These experiences are mine and those of my tribe. They are multi-dimensional and in complete integrity and authenticity with who I am as a Soul at all levels of Mind, Body, and Spirit. In a word: Sumptuous.

Success for me is a sumptuous life and business.

The beauty of this definition of success is that money reverts back to its original intention: a resource. Yes, money will be needed for many of these experiences. However, it is simply a tool, not a measure of success.

Another beautiful aspect of this definition of success is that giving and receiving are completely in balance. I take in joy and give it back out through the lens of my business, through the act of giving my gifts and talents. That act of giving draws from a very full well, which will only enhance my ability to give.

I stand fully in my desire for sumptuous living; excited about the juicy energy it creates and curious about where it leads.
