Do You Really Have All You Need?

Have you heard the spiritual platitude, “You already have everything you need”?

Up until about a week ago, that phrase was a thorn in my side.

Many times, I could truly believe it; and at others, it almost brought about a feeling of despair: “If I truly have all I need, where is it? What’s wrong with me? Why does everyone else ‘get’ this, and I don’t?”

Then I had an experience that proved to me, without a doubt, I really do have everything I need.

I’m taking a year long energy mentorship. We’re learning to clear chakras, auras, cords, sub-personalities and more. These are phenomenal tools to help clear away all the gunk that accumulates in our day-to-day lives, which keeps us from connecting with the deepest part of ourselves. (I’m beginning to add this work into my one-on-one private client work with good success! Watch for more information about this coming soon.)

In our last class experience, we worked on clearing aspects. Aspects are simply parts of ourselves that are characteristic of certain thought patterns, or our personalities. Aspects can look like helplessness, powerlessness, procrastination, anger, abandonment, and more.

What is amazing though is for every negative aspect we carry, we also carry the positive. We have it waiting for us. It’s right there.

While I was receiving work, I could very clearly feel the negative part of the aspect; the positive was only a ghost of a feeling. However, the more the negative aspect was healed, the stronger the positive aspect became, and the more real it felt.

Now as I go about my day-to-day life, I very strongly feel the positive aspect and the negative is simply a ghost of a feeling. I can’t tell you what a difference it has made in my daily personal and business life.

The point of sharing this with you is: We have everything we need inside. It’s not just a platitude. The more gunk that gets cleared from our energy system, the easier and easier it becomes to connect with that wise, deep part of yourself; the part of you that remembers its Source.

When you are in connection with this part, life and business unfold so brilliantly, so effortlessly, so easily. Sound good? Sound believable?

For any of you that may be doubting, let me be your witness, your first-hand observer: You have everything you need, right inside. It’s just waiting for you.

Self-Compassion for Business Success

One of the primary messages I heard from my family growing up was to work hard for what I wanted; or another variation, “nothing comes without hard work.”

While I completely agree there is no way to have a business without putting in time and effort, the underlying message to “work hard or else” simply backfires energetically.

Making working hard the focus generally means a lot of harsh self-talk. It means a lot of striving and pushing and effort. None of this is conducive to the soft, open, joyful, relaxed nature that connects you with the deep part of yourself, the part connected with Source.

From that soft, open, joyful place, so much more is possible.

The Universe has been quick to remind me of this in so many ways over the last few weeks. During an energy session, the practitioner shared the message “Be Kind to Yourself.”

Pulling cards from the beautiful “Path of the Soul” Destiny Cards, I kept receiving Quan Yin. According to their guidebook, Quan Yin is the Bodhisattva of Compassion and she represents the compassion and kindness towards oneself.

You know how when you hear something multiple times in multiple places, it’s time to pay attention?

So I’ve begun to recommit myself to paying attention to self-compassion, to kindness towards myself. I’ve made difficult choices to say no to some opportunities. I chose to go to an activity that I really wanted to do even though my mind told me I needed to stay home and work.

I’ve allowed myself to step into compassion for who I am right now.

And, as usual, when I reopen to that beautiful flow of Source all things change. Writing new web copy becomes a breeze. Ideas download without effort. Solutions to problems come seemingly from out of thin air.

Where can you begin to create self-compassion for yourself, right here, right now? Imagine what could shift in your business with this idea as your primary focus.

Do It, or Don’t Do It, Just Don’t Do Both!

I love the work I do — truly. However, if I were to follow my deepest secret longing, I’d be in musical theater.

Think Patti LuPone as Evita, or Heather Headley belting out her Tony winning performance in Elton John’s Aida.

If I’m really honest: Christina Aguilera (complete with pearl strand costume) singing “Guy What Takes His Time” in Burlesque.

One thing I know for sure is that to create these kinds of performances, these women had to go full out. No halfway. No feeling bashful. They each dug deep within their hearts and souls, became the character, believed in the character, and then the performance just flowed.

I could tell they were heart connected because there was no overacting that left me cringing. No head-only based performance that left the performance seeming as if it were simply a series of notes that would soon be forgotten.

The same is true for any business owner running a heart based, purpose based business. You just can’t do it halfway. You have to plug deep into your heart and your soul, become the work, believe in the work, and then let your words flow.

However, we don’t always recognize when we are only going halfway. We think we’re putting ourselves out there fully, when really we’re either over-acting or acting from our heads.

Here are some symptoms of running your business halfway:

  • Not wanting to find your niche; feeling like you have to serve everybody.
  • Worrying more about what your non-authentic clients will think of your message than your authentic clients. In other words, worrying what others think of the work you are putting out there and watering down your message to appeal to everyone instead of the people you are really meant to serve.
  • Blasting your message over and over, and over, needing people to connect with you.
  • Focusing only on the money. Operating from a place of needing money.
  • Needing to have a full calendar / particular amount of income, etc., before you feel worthy of saying you are good at what you do.

In working with my clients — and from my own personal experiences — we run halfway when we carry negative beliefs about what it means to be successful. Or what it means about you to truly stand up and believe fully in your work.

Clearing these underlying beliefs lets you fully and completely step into your heart, align with your Soul’s work, and help all the people you are meant to help and connect with in your business.

Get out of your own way. Step fully and confidently into who you are and let the world see you as you are, in your full, connected glory.

Now that may not be a musical theater number, but this is the work that makes my heart and soul sing!

Finding the Flow of Prosperity

Manifestation feels like such an easy concept: simply focus on what you want, feel the emotions of what you want, and life will unfold around you.

But, how do you maintain that feeling of what you want when you’ve been striving for an unfulfilled desire for what feels like a million years? Or, an unexpected bill arrives? Or, the launch you’ve so carefully orchestrated and visualized doesn’t bring the results you asked for?

These are the times when I have to reach outside of myself to create the vibration I want. My mind is never going to be able to take me there. I need to dive into the experience of something that is going to allow the vibration I want to rise to the surface.

Being out in nature is one way. Listening to music is another. Time with like-minded friends is another.

I’ve also been playing around with introducing really amazing poetry into my daily routine. Here is one of the more recent poems I’ve been including. Before you read it, close your eyes and take several deep breaths. Notice your vibration and how you are feeling.

Now, allow the words to wash over and through you.

The Shining Essence
by Fakhruddin Araqi

I look into the mirror and see my own beauty;
I see the truth of the universe revealing itself as me.

I rise in the sky as the morning Sun, do not be surprised,
Every particle of creation is me alone.

What are the hold spirits? My essence revealed.
And the human body? The vessel of my own form.

What is the ocean that encircles the world?
A drop of my abundant Grace;
And the purest light that fills every soul?
A spark of my own illumination.

I am Light itself, reflected in the heart of everyone;
I am the treasure of the Divine Name,
the shining Essence of all things.

I am every light that shines,
Every ray that illumines the world.

From the highest heavens to the bedrock of the earth,
All is but a shadow of my splendor.

If I dropped the veil covering my true essence,
The world would be gone — lost in a brilliant light.

What is the water that gives eternal light?
A drop of my divine nectar.
And the breath that brings the dead back to life?
A puff of my breath, the breath of all life.

Close your eyes again, take several more deep breaths. How are you feeling? What is your emotional vibration now?

What is Enough Money?

My guess is that if I asked 100 people, I would get 100 different opinions that all boiled down to one simple answer: more than I have now.

Since I work in the area of prosperity, the question of how much money is enough comes up with almost everyone. Certainly the perception that there isn’t enough is pervasive.

Yet, each client has had a unique version of what wasn’t enough.

From the client who couldn’t invest in any more sessions because her husband constantly told her they didn’t have enough money (but then confided in me that he insisted they pay for everything in cash, including their current home). To the client who was literally shopping the food shelves. To the client who called to celebrate the biggest ‘win’ she’s ever experienced and in the same breath told of her terror because her calendar for new appointments is now blank. The underlying emotion is the same: fear.

Fear that there isn’t ever going to be enough.

The truth of the matter is: there isn’t one number, one situation, one scenario that will define ‘enough’ for all of us.

The truth is that ‘enough’ isn’t a number at all; it’s an emotion, it’s a decision. This is true whether we literally have a negative checking balance or hundreds of thousands of dollars in a retirement account. I’ve been both places, not always in the correct sequence.

We use money as an expression of our worth, as an expression of our safety in the world, as a way to cover up our own personal shame.

Money was never meant for this purpose. Money is simply energy; energy that can be transformed into the physical, tangible things that we require in our life here on planet Earth.

Geneen Roth says, “The relationship with money, like the relationship with food, is a way we act out beliefs that we don’t know we have.”

I invite you to ask yourself the question, “How much is enough? When will I know that I finally have enough?” The answers to these questions will give you what is ready to be healed, so you can finally know, right now, in this moment, there is enough.

When you are in the vibration of enough, you will open the doorway to your abundance and your physical experience will flood with prosperity.

What are you ready to heal, to release, so you can know that no matter what is going on around you right now, that there is enough?

Vulnerability and Profits

Running a heart-based, purpose-centered business is an exercise of surrendering to vulnerability over, and over, and over.

When you build a business around your passion, your values, your wants and desires, what is the one constant? YOU.

There’s no large organization to hide behind. No corporate bosses. No policies that are out of your control. Just you.

While this is a powerful place to be, it’s also a very vulnerable place to be.

Here’s the thing about feeling vulnerable: when you are feeling vulnerable, the old stories and beliefs you carry about yourself tend to run the show. It’s hard to be a connected, present, purpose-filled business owner when those old tapes are blaring in your head.

Here are the top (3) vulnerabilities I see in my clients:

  1. Being Seen: In order to have clients, they have to be able to see you. However, when you are ‘putting yourself out there’ in new ways, it can be very hard to do it in a way that encourages thousands of people to be able to see you.

How to know if this is one of your vulnerabilities: This can show up as simply as having difficulty putting a current picture on your website, stepping into the social networking realm, trouble getting yourself to local networking groups, and more.

  2. Being Judged: No one likes being judged. But, this is a particularly vulnerable area when you are putting your heart and soul out there for all to see.

How to know if this is one of your vulnerabilities: This can show up as keeping your prices low, not putting out your true message (just one that you think most people would be okay with), watering down what you have to say, thinking more about what other people are going to think than what the deep connection within your body is telling you.

  3. Not Living up to Expectations (yours and/or the important people in your life): The expectations we place on ourselves are often so far and beyond what anyone else would ever expect of us. Yet, with all of our years of living, the most common unconscious decision I’ve seen my clients struggle against is the belief they have to be perfect to be accepted.

How to know if this is one of your vulnerabilities: This can show up as procrastination, not getting specific goals, manifesting all kinds of external issues you have to deal with that take away the time you have to spend on your business.

The best news about this is that when you find your vulnerability, you’ve also re-discovered your ability to step in and be powerful.

When your business isn’t flowing, there’s always an underlying issue; feeling vulnerable and unsafe are two of the biggest culprits. Take some time this week, notice what isn’t flowing for you, and then get curious: what are the thoughts and beliefs that are stopping the flow?

It’s Never About the Money

Imagine for a moment that you are a doctor. Your patient comes in and says she is having trouble getting enough air when she walks; she simply cannot breathe.

Would you focus only on the kind of air the person was breathing? Would you look for ways to have her have more air around her? Would you recommend she “breathe shallower” so as to not use up the air that is around her?

Even without medical training, I am certain you know the amount of air isn’t the issue. Not getting enough air is the result. The issue that causes that result lies within the underlying structure of the patient.

Money issues are always the same.

Money is simply supposed to be an energy that flows in and out of our lives, giving us exactly what we need to live a full, prosperous life. It’s supposed to be as natural as breathing; you shouldn’t even have to think about it and it will flow.

Yet, for many of us that isn’t the case. Since it isn’t flowing the way we want, we start to “knuckle down,” spend less and look for more ways to make more money; but, money keeps being blocked.

Why? We’re looking at the wrong issue. Money itself isn’t the issue; lack of money is the result, just like not being able to breathe is the result of an underlying problem in the body, not the fact that air is limited.

What’s the real issue behind our lack of money?

Of course, the answer to this is as individual as we are, but here are some of the more common underlying issues I’ve seen my clients grapple with:

  • If more money is flowing, you’ll have to address relationship issues.
  • You believe it’s either money or: time, trust, spirituality, family, love.
  • Having no money keeps you safe: Without a large business, you’ll never have to face the fear of speaking your truth to the world.
  • Not having enough money keeps you from acting out of your purpose.
  • It’s easier to have issues with money than to shift our long-term belief that we can’t have what we truly want to have.
  • It’s easier to have issues with money than to know it’s safe to ask for what we want.
  • If you have money, then you’ll have to re-evaluate what you think of “rich” people, their values, their connection with Spirit, their thoughtfulness, desire to help other people.
  • If you have money, you’ll have to be even more responsible than you are now, live up to even more expectations.

How do you begin to ‘diagnose’ your personal blockages? Ask yourself these beginning questions:

  1. What would happen if I had all the money I wanted?
  2. What decisions would I have to make?
  3. What does not having money keep me from doing / being / having?
  4. What would having more money keep me from doing / being / having?
  5. Imagine yourself with the business that you want—reaching the number of people you want to reach, having the income flow that you want. What does your daily life look like? How does it affect your relationship? The way you want to be in the world? How you show up in your purpose.

The answers to these questions are the clues you need to diagnose where your prosperity blocks lie. As you heal the blocks, the money will flow.

What are You Harvesting?

CornacopiaI am getting tired of listening to the people who equate business success with how much money you make. Granted, how much money you bring in is a very tangible measure of your influence on the world. You can’t make money without business and clients; therefore, the more money you have made, the more people you have influenced. We also need money to live in our society and to have the means to bring our message to the world.

And yet, this is far from the whole story. When you only focus on the money, you miss the deeper purpose of the work you are bringing to the world. When you focus only on the money you’ve made, you miss the richness of how you are living. When you only focus on the money, you cut yourself off from your deep connection to your heart.

A purpose and heart based business has a natural rhythm, a natural cycle. When you are in tune with this cycle, when it comes time for the harvest, you will find the harvest is in complete alignment with who you are, mind, body, and soul. You are in alignment with that rich, creative potential we all carry.

To discover where you are in this natural cycle, start by getting extreme clarity about where you are right now:

What are you harvesting this year?

What business goals did you meet?

More importantly, how did they make you feel? Are you living from that deep Soul-Full, creative place? Are you living the life your Soul is longing to express?

Are you enjoying your time? Are you spending your time in ways that make you happy? In alignment with all your values? In ways that add to your prosperity on all levels? Or do things seem routine? Hard? Disconnected from what you really want.

Does your harvest take you in the opposite direction of your purpose? Does your harvest reflect how you want to live? Who you want to be?

Give yourself the gift of asking these questions for this clarity is imperative to getting in alignment with your purpose. When you get in alignment with your purpose, your creative potential, that’s when true abundance and prosperity can unfold.

A Key Ingredient

As the Prosperity Alignment Healer, I help you align your body/mind/and spirit to your deepest desires for prosperity. This alignment now allows the Universe to bring you results to match your desires.

But, what is prosperity?

The first topic that comes to mind for most people is an abundance of money. Financial freedom. And this is, of course, an incredibly important aspect of prosperity. Yet, there is SO much more.

A prosperous life is one that is full—not busy, but rich (in the same way a dark chocolate mousse is rich) in all ways. A prosperous life is nurturing, exciting, vivacious. It’s feeling like you are doing work that matters, you are doing your life’s work. Prosperity is about all areas of your life—personal, business, relationships, and more.

It’s about getting to that place where you literally can’t imagine any more wonderful experiences coming to you, but they do, over and over and over.

The details of a prosperous life will look different for everyone. For me a prosperous life includes a lot of family time, both immediate and extended, going new places (preferably with a large body of water!). Being able to work from anywhere, having complete say over my schedule, having a circle of friends and business associates who share my view of the world.

Time to read, time to connect with the Divine.

Time to truly live my live purpose, which includes connecting with others and helping them dissolve the beliefs and patterns that keep them from remembering who they really are at their core. Helping people live their own life purpose, and to stop that inner critic who is so good at unraveling the best laid plans.

Last, but not least, having the financial resources to get my message out, to touch the people I want to touch, and to play the way I really want to play!

Having this definition of prosperity makes it easy for me to make life decisions—whether personal or business. I have a very good sense of whether new opportunities or choices are going to match with my ideal prosperous life or not.

Also, having this definition allows me to begin to expect my life to flow by this definition. That sense of expectation is a key ingredient to making the Law of Attraction bring me more of what I want and less of what I don’t.

Now it’s YOUR turn.  What’s your definition of a prosperity?  What’s your vision of your prosperous life?
