What If You Aren’t the Problem Standing Between You and Abundance?

So, I’ve been picking up on a subtle pattern happening as I work on creating more of the sumptuous life I want. I wonder if you notice it in yourself, too.

If you’ve been in my community for a while, chances are you’ve done a lot of inner work. You’ve looked at your beliefs. You’ve healed old patterns. You’ve explored what you might be carrying from your family or your past. You’ve probably asked yourself more than once what might be affecting your ability to receive.

I believe in this type of work. It has changed my life and those of people in my community. And I also think there’s a point where we need to look at the purpose we’ve given it. Without realizing it, inner work can become transactional: If I heal this, then I’ll receive. If I clear this block, then the money will come. If I become more aligned, then I’ll finally have what I want.

And when the thing you want still doesn’t happen, where do you look? Back at yourself. What am I missing? What else is wrong? What do I need to work on now? And my personal bug-a-boo: See…I knew there was something flawed in me.

After a while, it can start to feel as though abundance is waiting on the other side of some version of you that you haven’t managed to become yet.

There’s something deeply contradictory about that. How can abundance be your birthright if you also have to become someone different before you’re allowed to receive it?

I don’t think the answer is to stop doing inner work; I certainly won’t. I think the invitation is to change the reason you’re doing it.

You can look at an old belief about money without deciding that belief is the reason abundance is being withheld from you. You can heal a pattern because you don’t want it making your choices anymore. You can become aware of what you’ve inherited, experienced, and come to believe because you want greater freedom in how you show up today.

The work stops being about making yourself worthy or capable of receiving. It becomes about becoming more conscious of what you’re bringing into your relationship with abundance.

And that changes the questions.

Instead of asking, What do I need to fix so I can finally receive? you can ask, What is influencing the way I’m showing up in my relationship with money? Is this belief still mine? Is fear making this decision for me? Is the way I’m relating to money an expression of who I am now, or is something from my past still leading?

There’s an important difference between those two approaches. One begins with the assumption that something inside you is preventing abundance from reaching you. The other begins with the understanding that you are already in relationship with abundance.

Let me be frank: You don’t have to earn your place in that relationship. But you do get to decide how you want to participate in it.

And that’s where I believe the inner work becomes incredibly powerful. Instead of using it to remove blocks, you use the inner work as a way to recognize what has been leading your relationship with money and abundance and consciously choose what you want to lead it now.

You become the leader of that relationship. You bring all your power as a drop of the divine into that leadership role.

You notice when an old belief is making your choices. You recognize when fear has taken the wheel. You see when something you learned decades ago is still determining what you believe is possible. And you choose again because you want to show up as your powerful, creative self in the relationship.

This is a vital part of becoming a conscious co-creator of the sumptuous life you want. I’ve already noticed a termendous difference in what I’m creating as I continue to practice this new level of leadership.
