Don’t Waste High Level Coaching

Have you ever wondered why some programs, products, and coaching work for some people and they don’t for others?

How many Internet marketing products have you purchased, only to see your business stay the same?

How many coaching programs have you participated in only to stay stuck in the same place?

How many “workshop in a box” products have you purchased, only to find the final measureable result is a decrease in your bank account?

Don’t get me wrong: growing your knowledge and understanding of business structure and tactics is key to creating a profitable business.

However, there is no product created, no mastermind available, no mentor good enough to wave a magic wand and create results for you if your internal programming, your underlying beliefs are standing in unconscious opposition.

I’ve been seeing an alarming trend in high level coaches who at this point tend to blame the client: they just aren’t motivated enough, they just aren’t clear enough, they just aren’t committed enough, they must want a hobby and not a “real” business.

I feel this is completely missing the point: this is a standard stage of growing a heart centered, purpose based business. Expect it. Rejoice in it because it means you are getting really close to what you want.

The answer isn’t that you just need to power through the fear. The answer isn’t that you are a failure. The answer isn’t that you shouldn’t have signed up for their program.

The answer is: you need to bring your internal programming into alignment with what you want to create.

Each of us carries personal responsibility for moving ourselves forward; to begin to recognize when we are stuck in a whirlpool of negative feelings / stagnation due to our internal programming, and then take the steps to get re-aligned; take the steps to transform the underlying beliefs that hold us back.

If you find you aren’t getting the results you want from high level coaching or other types of programs, it is time to stop and get really curious and ask yourself: what are the underlying pieces of my programming that are holding me in place?

Take the steps. Get help if you need to; this is often when an external guide can be really helpful.

When you take these steps, you’ll find clarity, drive, and inspired actions come without any effort. You will be well on your way to creating your fertile business.

Do You Really Have All You Need?

Have you heard the spiritual platitude, “You already have everything you need”?

Up until about a week ago, that phrase was a thorn in my side.

Many times, I could truly believe it; and at others, it almost brought about a feeling of despair: “If I truly have all I need, where is it? What’s wrong with me? Why does everyone else ‘get’ this, and I don’t?”

Then I had an experience that proved to me, without a doubt, I really do have everything I need.

I’m taking a year long energy mentorship. We’re learning to clear chakras, auras, cords, sub-personalities and more. These are phenomenal tools to help clear away all the gunk that accumulates in our day-to-day lives, which keeps us from connecting with the deepest part of ourselves. (I’m beginning to add this work into my one-on-one private client work with good success! Watch for more information about this coming soon.)

In our last class experience, we worked on clearing aspects. Aspects are simply parts of ourselves that are characteristic of certain thought patterns, or our personalities. Aspects can look like helplessness, powerlessness, procrastination, anger, abandonment, and more.

What is amazing though is for every negative aspect we carry, we also carry the positive. We have it waiting for us. It’s right there.

While I was receiving work, I could very clearly feel the negative part of the aspect; the positive was only a ghost of a feeling. However, the more the negative aspect was healed, the stronger the positive aspect became, and the more real it felt.

Now as I go about my day-to-day life, I very strongly feel the positive aspect and the negative is simply a ghost of a feeling. I can’t tell you what a difference it has made in my daily personal and business life.

The point of sharing this with you is: We have everything we need inside. It’s not just a platitude. The more gunk that gets cleared from our energy system, the easier and easier it becomes to connect with that wise, deep part of yourself; the part of you that remembers its Source.

When you are in connection with this part, life and business unfold so brilliantly, so effortlessly, so easily. Sound good? Sound believable?

For any of you that may be doubting, let me be your witness, your first-hand observer: You have everything you need, right inside. It’s just waiting for you.

Ready to uncover it?

Self-Compassion for Business Success

One of the primary messages I heard from my family growing up was to work hard for what I wanted; or another variation, “nothing comes without hard work.”

While I completely agree there is no way to have a business without putting in time and effort, the underlying message to “work hard or else” simply backfires energetically.

Making working hard the focus generally means a lot of harsh self-talk. It means a lot of striving and pushing and effort. None of this is conducive to the soft, open, joyful, relaxed nature that connects you with the deep part of yourself, the part connected with Source.

From that soft, open, joyful place, so much more is possible.

The Universe has been quick to remind me of this in so many ways over the last few weeks. During an energy session, the practitioner shared the message “Be Kind to Yourself.”

Pulling cards from the beautiful “Path of the Soul” Destiny Cards, I kept receiving Quan Yin. According to their guidebook, Quan Yin is the Bodhisattva of Compassion and she represents the compassion and kindness towards oneself.

You know how when you hear something multiple times in multiple places, it’s time to pay attention?

So I’ve begun to recommit myself to paying attention to self-compassion, to kindness towards myself. I’ve made difficult choices to say no to some opportunities. I chose to go to an activity that I really wanted to do even though my mind told me I needed to stay home and work.

I’ve allowed myself to step into compassion for who I am right now.

And, as usual, when I reopen to that beautiful flow of Source all things change. Writing new web copy becomes a breeze. Ideas download without effort. Solutions to problems come seemingly from out of thin air.

Where can you begin to create self-compassion for yourself, right here, right now? Imagine what could shift in your business with this idea as your primary focus.

Cover-ups that Affect Your Business

One of the core tenets I teach to my private clients is this: how you feel is an important message from Source. When you listen to these messages, you will leap ahead in your business and you will create a business that makes your heart sing.

Yet, feeling more is often one of the most difficult pieces of homework I give my clients. Many of us will do ANYTHING it takes not to feel, so we’ve gotten really good at covering up those sensations.

Recognize any of these cover-up behaviors?

  • Over-eating
  • Over-spending
  • Long periods of being stuck, no forward movement
  • Constant motion, always being busy
  • Escaping to books, movies, TV, Social Media
  • Procrastination
  • Under-earning (and debt)
  • Drama in relationships

Our feelings are incredible clues to the underlying beliefs and thoughts that block us from moving forward. From my own personal journey to feel my feelings, as well as talking with clients, there seems to be several consistent reasons for not wanting to feel.

  • A belief we need to be happy all the time in order to get the Law of Attraction to work.
  • “Negative” feelings flat out don’t feel good. We’re conditioned to pull away from pain.
  • A sense that once you start feeling, you’ll begin to become overwhelmed and dragged under by the sensations.
  • Judgment that says you “shouldn’t” be feeling what you’re feeling.

Do you recognize yourself in any of these? When you learn how to tune into the message of the feeling instead of just the feeling, you learn none of these has to be true. In fact, the so-called “negative” emotions we work so hard to resist actually carry the most power for moving forward.

When you allow yourself to truly tune in and listen to your feelings, you can use the whole spectrum of emotions (negative or positive) to leap your way forward to the business and life that your Soul desires.

Do It, or Don’t Do It, Just Don’t Do Both!

I love the work I do — truly. However, if I were to follow my deepest secret longing, I’d be in musical theater.

Think Patti LuPone as Evita, or Heather Headley belting out her Tony winning performance in Elton John’s Aida.

If I’m really honest: Christina Aguilera (complete with pearl strand costume) singing “Guy What Takes His Time” in Burlesque.

One thing I know for sure is that to create these kinds of performances, these women had to go full out. No halfway. No feeling bashful. They each dug deep within their hearts and souls, became the character, believed in the character, and then the performance just flowed.

I could tell they were heart connected because there was no overacting that left me cringing. No head-only based performance that left the performance seeming as if it were simply a series of notes that would soon be forgotten.

The same is true for any business owner running a heart based, purpose based business. You just can’t do it halfway. You have to plug deep into your heart and your soul, become the work, believe in the work, and then let your words flow.

However, we don’t always recognize when we are only going halfway. We think we’re putting ourselves out there fully, when really we’re either over-acting or acting from our heads.

Here are some symptoms of running your business halfway:

  • Not wanting to find your niche; feeling like you have to serve everybody.
  • Worrying more about what your non-authentic clients will think of your message than your authentic clients. In other words, worrying what others think of the work you are putting out there and watering down your message to appeal to everyone instead of the people you are really meant to serve.
  • Blasting your message over and over, and over, needing people to connect with you.
  • Focusing only on the money. Operating from a place of needing money.
  • Needing to have a full calendar / particular amount of income, etc., before you feel worthy of saying you are good at what you do.

In working with my clients — and from my own personal experiences — we run halfway when we carry negative beliefs about what it means to be successful. Or what it means about you to truly stand up and believe fully in your work.

Clearing these underlying beliefs lets you fully and completely step into your heart, align with your Soul’s work, and help all the people you are meant to help and connect with in your business.

Get out of your own way. Step fully and confidently into who you are and let the world see you as you are, in your full, connected glory.

Now that may not be a musical theater number, but this is the work that makes my heart and soul sing!

Don’t Add Another Layer

Ever since I made the decision I was 100% responsible for what was showing up in my life, life has completely shifted for me. I am happier. I feel more empowered. I am a much more accomplished manifestor in many areas of my life. I am much more aligned with my Soul, and each choice I make about my business draws me closer and closer to living the life my Soul is longing to live.

Yet, I still have experiences that completely challenge me to stay at this level of thinking and belief.

Over the last five months, I have had an ongoing issue with my mortgage company. During the first several months, I dealt with it in what I would humbly call “a spiritual way.”

I visualized the results I wanted. When I had negative communication with them, I would spend 15 – 20 minutes with the practice of ho’oponopono before any further calls. I used all the clearing tools I had in my books. I asked for Angelic help.

And the situation kept getting worse.

I engaged some community resources to help with the issue, resources that have had significantly more experience with the banking industry. They reassured me what I was going through was “normal.” The banks are “out to get people,” etc. I didn’t want to go there but I will tell you, it was seductive to “go there” and get angry. And sometimes, yes, I did get angry.

Still, I came back to my spiritual view. I took a big picture view. I know I’m 100% responsible.

And it made not one whit of difference. The problem still loomed.

Ultimately, the issue with the mortgage company was resolved in a way that I didn’t want. In fact, you could even say, “they won,” in that what I felt was fair didn’t come to pass. They got what they want; I didn’t.

So, what’s a spiritually committed woman to do? How can I have this result and still hold on to the knowing that I am a creator? That I am 100% responsible for my life?

Here’s what I could have done: I could have gotten really angry. I could have spent weeks on end telling everyone and his or her brother about my story. How I was wronged. How they were wrong. I could launch letter writing campaigns to my senators, asking them to please, please look into this terrible crime that is being perpetrated on countless individuals. After all, if I don’t stand up for this, how will it ever be solved?

But where does that “get” me?

On the one hand, it would be a big demonstration of moving up Abraham’s Emotional Guidance Scale — all the way up to revenge from helplessness.

Choosing those actions would allow me to exercise my growing ability to express my true thoughts and feelings.

At the same time, however, I would miss the whole point of this particular opportunity and simply add another layer of “humanness” that covered up my connection with Source, with the learning my soul came here to do, that would knock me farther out of alignment with prosperity.

So, instead, I chose to dive deep into this experience.

I gave myself about 24 hours to be really angry. To b*tch and moan and decry the whole banking industry.

And then I took a breath. Each messy opportunity that shows up for us is an opportunity to remember more clearly who we are and why we are here on this glorious planet.

This opportunity showed me where I still have some remaining feelings of powerlessness, how I want to be treated, where I am still very attached to the form that something shows up in.

Seeing this, I’ve spent time in meditation and in clearing work making the specific choice to feel powerful. To feel heard. To release attachment to form.

I can already feel the benefits of this deeper alignment. I’ve had some amazing opportunities show up on my doorstep this last week and amazing interactions with colleagues. I would have been closed to all of that if I had chosen the other route. I would have added yet one more layer that blocks me from creating the prosperity I want in my life and business.

I’ll tell you, walking my talk isn’t always easy. However, it repeatedly proves to me the power of alignment. And, over and over it proves that spiritual practices aren’t just for when you want something specific. These practices are here to guide you through the messiness of life, helping to continue to ease you closer and closer to your Soul’s purpose, to your prosperous life.

Whew! That’s a Relief!

I rely a lot on my intuition. In fact, I find the more I rely on it, the more I can rely on it; the information comes in a format that is easier and easier to understand.

Yet, during times when I find myself stuck, it’s harder to feel like I can get a clear answer.

During these times, I love to turn to one of my many Oracle decks (Oracle decks are different from Tarot Decks. I use my Tarot cards on a daily basis. More about that in a different post.) Some of my favorite Oracle decks come from Doreen Virtue: Goddess Guidance, Healing Angels, etc.

A couple of weeks ago, I found myself completely stymied. I wasn’t moving forward. At all. I had a project to complete, but I was good and stuck. Since neither meditation nor my other tools to tap into the core issue of a situation were working, I decided to pull out one of my Oracle decks.

Instead of using my typical decks, I decided to pull out a deck I’ve just started using: T. Harv Ekers’ Secrets of the Millionaire Mind Deck. Here’s what came up:

Front of the Card: Become a Great Learner.

“Hmm,” I thought, “something I already know.” I’m always reading books, articles, blogs, whatever I can get my hands on. Not too much insight here. However, I was committed enough to flip over the card.

Back of the Card: Rich people constantly learn and grow. Poor people think they already know. Every master was once a disaster…you can learn to be great at anything.

And boom, there was the blinding flash of clarity.

Even though I’ve worked on layers of this issue before, I could see I was completely stopped because there was still a part of me ashamed that I wasn’t the perfect “after” story. I was stuck because I was creating impossible circumstances to meet. I was requiring myself to be perfect; a condition that doesn’t even exist.

I was being hard on myself because I hadn’t reached perfection and because I’d had the issue in the first place.

Every master was once a disaster. Whew, such relief!

I did healing on the part of me that continued to carry the shame for having the issue in the first place. And I gave myself permission to be exactly where I was. I allowed myself to feel deep within my body the truth that every master was once a disaster.

From that place of healing and permission, my project flowed, and I am now able to help others more easily navigate their own similar issues. That feels amazing and is infinitely better than swimming in a smaller and smaller circle, letting fear and shame hold me back.

Where do you hold yourself to impossibly high standards? Where do you keep yourself stuck by requiring yourself to be perfect first? Where do you get stopped by shame?

This is the Easy Part

I want you to bring your gifts and purpose in a big way this year. Here are three elements to remember to bring all that is in your heart into physical being:

  1. Big Ideas Create Big EnergyAs soon as you begin playing around with big ideas, it’s as if they have an energy of their own. This energy acts like a huge beacon, highlighting all that is within you that doesn’t energetically match your goal or vision.

This is one of those “blessing in disguise” opportunities.

If you are aware of this dynamic, then that light is a blessing. You clear out what doesn’t match so you can move forward.

If you aren’t, then life may seem to get really messy. You may define this messiness as procrastination, or communication problems, or road blocks may keep appearing in other areas of your life, or physical issues may come up in your body.

Each of those “messes” is real — not imaginary — but they are present because you’ve stirred the pot. You’ve changed the status quo. The parts of you who learned early on it wasn’t safe to be seen, or you don’t deserve great things happening to you, or it isn’t safe to shine in such a big way, are going to squawk in any way possible to get your attention.

The key to moving toward your vision is to understand this and know how to clear out the energy that doesn’t match your new vision.

  2. Believing is SeeingWhat we know about the energetics of the Universe is that you have to hold your vibration to match with what you want in order for it to manifest.

It can be hard, though, to hold the space of believing in what you want long enough for the physical evidence to start to show up. As time goes on, it gets easier to notice the NOT showing up. All of a sudden now you’ve shifted the energy of the situation. You haven’t shifted your desire for your goals, simply the energy around your desire.

To keep moving toward your vision, spend time each day feeling the energy of your vision. The most important work you’ll ever do is to continue to create the internal feeling of what you want.

The Universe responds to your vibration, not your vision board.

  3. Where’s it Coming From?If you are diligently implementing #1 and #2 and your vision simply isn’t unfolding, check in with the motivation behind your goal.

Is the motivating factor based in fear? Desperation? Now, none of us like to admit we are feeling fear or desperation, but we all do at some point. The key is to simply be curious about your emotions, not judgmental.

If you get really honest with yourself and notice you are motivated by fear, you are amping up the vibration of fear. Your vision is not going to unfold.

Make sure your vision is based on a connection with your heart and Source, not on the fears that keep you separate.

As you include these three elements into your daily routine, you will see a much more powerful unfolding of your vision and goals. I can’t wait to hear what unfolds for you!

Do You Know the Story of Silent Night?

Imagine this: you are the pastor of a small church in rural Austria in the early 1800’s. It’s several days before Christmas and the organ your church is known for is out of commission. People are counting on you to do something to fix it before Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. And yet, the organ remains broken.

After deciding there wasn’t anything more to do, Pastor Joseph Mohr went home feeling the stress and strain, and the worry. However, once he got home, he decided he needed to somehow release that stress and strain. So, he got quiet and allowed himself to reconnect to the real reason for the season, the true Spirit of Christmas.

As he calmed himself, words began flowing.

He brought the stanzas he wrote to Franz Gruber, the musical director of the church, telling him, “I think these are words to a song.” Within a half hour, Franz had the melody to “Stille Nacht! Heilige Nacht,” “Silent Night,” which they sang that night, accompanied by his guitar.

Years later, this simple and beautiful song had spread throughout Europe. And now it has spread throughout the entire world.

Fanciful version of the story? Perhaps. And yet here is what touched me: this story demonstrates that getting quiet, getting into your heart and connecting with Spirit, is the most powerful action you can take for your business and in your life.

If Joseph Mohr had sat down and said, “I’m going to write an internationally known song,” chances are he would have had writer’s block.

Instead, he allowed himself to drop into his heart, connect with Spirit in the best way he knew how, and then inspiration simply flowed. He had no specific agenda. He simply wanted to feel connection so that he could best serve his congregation.

In this busy holiday season, no matter your tradition, I invite you to stop. Take a breath. Drop into your heart and connect with Spirit, Source, Creator, God. The gift is feeling this moment. And, that gift will keep on giving, as you move from inspiration to inspiration. Breath to breath. Inspired action to inspired action. Gift to gift.

Blessings to each and every one of you.

When Mentors are Wrong

Mentors. When you find a phenomenal one, oh, the difference they can make in your business.

I’ve had many mentors in my 10+ years of business. The really amazing ones have been able to (seemingly) effortlessly blend supporting me with helping me see my opportunities for growth. And yes, that’s absolutely a euphemism for something that’s a bit difficult and painful at first!

I know without a doubt I wouldn’t be where I am without these mentors.

At the same time, though, I can see when I have given too much power to my mentors. I have taken their knowledge, their opinions, and valued it much more highly than my own intuition.

This is trickier than perhaps it looks on the surface.

When you work with mentors, you are paying them to see your blind spots. You are paying them to give you information based on their wisdom. You are paying them because they have walked the path before you and can share the potholes they ran into, so you don’t have to make the same mistakes.

Because of this, some of what they present to you is going to be difficult. Their suggestions are going to create all kinds of emotions within you. Perhaps it raises some fear because you are being asked to step out of your comfort zone. Perhaps it raises some anger initially—how can that possibly be right?

When they are on target, you’ll discover underneath those emotions there’s a part of you that deeply resonates with what they say. You follow through on their advice because you know when you follow through; you will experience success and a huge ah-ha.

What happens, though, when there isn’t one part of you that resonates with the information they are sharing?

What happens when every cell of your being revolts against what is being presented?

Is it a really huge growth opportunity? Or are they simply wrong?

How can you tell?

The first step is to take those mentors down off their pedestals (and the really good ones never asked you to put them up there in the first place!). After all, your mentor is going to see everything through their own filters, through their own beliefs, through their own experiences. It doesn’t matter how perfect the match is between you and your mentor; they aren’t you.

Second, it is imperative you know how to check in with the deepest part of yourself—how to get in connection with that part of yourself that isn’t blinded by beliefs, old memories, and other gunk.

When you can communicate with this deep part of yourself, you will be able to tell without a doubt whether you are facing a growth opportunity, or whether it’s time to tell that mentor, “no, you are wrong about this.”

I recently had the opportunity to be in this situation.

I’ve gotten pretty good at choosing mentors, so this doesn’t happen to me much anymore. But, I will be honest and say this particular situation blindsided me; I wasn’t expecting it at all, so I had a LOT of emotion.

Now that I’ve had some time—and the gift of some really amazing energy clearing—I can see the gift of the whole situation. I was able to even more strongly step into communication with the deepest part of myself.

I was able to dive more deeply in knowing how to value my own thoughts and opinions over the strong words and opinions of another. To be able to step up and say, “No, I think you’re wrong.” I wish I had been able to do it with more grace and elegance, but I did get the words out and can feel my strengthening belief in my own value.

That is a huge parting gift from this mentor.

How about you? How are you able to stand up for your own value? How well do you do telling someone else, “You’re wrong?”
