How Authentic is Your Voice?

What is the most important quality you need to embrace in order to have a fertile, prosperous business?

When I first started in business, I would probably have answered that question with something that related to a business skill. What I’ve learned, though, in my last 11 years in business is the most important quality is authenticity.

What do I mean by authenticity?

To me, authenticity is about having an intimate understanding and love of your gifts, talents, connection to your purpose and the Divine, and having the courage to speak from that place.

This is not a task for the faint of heart!

Speaking from a place of authenticity creates a sense of vulnerability. You are putting YOU out there for all to see.

This is why I included the word “love” in the description. To be able to speak authentically, you must have a deep love and belief in your own value. This deep love and belief will sustain you when you inevitably run into someone who perhaps doesn’t agree with your viewpoint.

The gift of stepping into authenticity is a huge one: you now stand in a vibration that attracts to you those people whom you are meant to serve. You stand in a vibration that draws those ideal clients who are eager to work with you. You stand in a vibration that allows prosperity to flow in many, many fun ways.

Enhance Your Intentions

No matter what your intentions are for 2012, I have one suggestion to add to your list, so you may step more fully into a Fertile Business (which includes a joyful day to day life too).

Make 2012 the year of moving from what you know in your mind, what you know intellectually, to drawing that knowledge deep within you and living from it, rather than just thinking about it.

We all carry so much knowledge within our heads. Yet, when we want something different in our lives, we seek out new knowledge instead of deepening into what we already know.

In order to do this, there may be a little ‘clean-up’ work to do:

  • Releasing old beliefs that have kept you from stepping fully into what you know in your heart and soul to be true.
  • Committing to making a choice about how you want to feel over and over again.
  • Being willing to write a new story for yourself — past and present.
  • Committing to being gentle with yourself.
  • Trusting in your own divinity.

What is one piece of knowledge, one piece of Truth, you know intellectually that you are ready to step into fully and completely, right now?

Are You Controlling From Your Mind or Creating With Your Soul?

How many books have you read on Law of Attraction so you can move your business ahead?  How many resources have you plumbed to connect more deeply with your purpose?  How many intuitive tools do you have at your disposal?

If you are anything like me, the answer is: dozens.  Scores.  Multitudes.  A plethora.

These resources are all wonderful tools.  You have to know what you don’t know before anything new can happen.

And yet what I have noticed with myself and my clients is that we expect the tools to be the magic.  We fall into the trap of believing that focusing on expressing the tools in our life is the answer.  At some level we decide that we KNOW what we’re supposed to do and that should be enough to change our lives – and if it isn’t perhaps there is some new piece of knowing that we simply need to discover.

Here’s the Truth: The tools are simply the path to the magic. The real magic happens when you open the door at the end of the path.

What’s the path?

These tools simply put us on the path us to remembering that we are of the Divine.  That we came as a Soul with a Divine purpose.  That we have all the power of the Divine at our very fingertips in every moment because we are of the Divine.

Opening the door is all about living from this place of connection.  Not just knowing that it’s true, but living from the Truth each moment of the day.

When we run our businesses from this place of being, this place of connection, prosperity abounds:  prosperity of time, of deep relationship with our tribe, of love of our daily lives, of money.

And yet, this connection can be hard to remember and difficult to live in our daily lives with all of the crap we pick up along the way from our human experience.

This crap keeps the knowing at an intellectual level instead of a body level, instead of the deep resonance, instead of stepping into a connection with your Soul.

This crap also keeps us from recognizing that this ‘simple’ principle (‘simple’ in understanding, perhaps not so simple in the expression of it) is worthy of some time and exploration and conscious daily choices.

This crap keeps us in the place of, “but I know that already and it hasn’t worked.”  Or, “I don’t have time for this.  There just has to be something else because I know all of this already.”

The mind is really an amazing structure – but so not helpful in this situation.

The seed for the blossoming of the magic of prosperity throughout your business and life is already within you.  You don’t need to add any more knowledge.  You simply need to water what’s already there.  I promise.

Here’s something else I promise: helping others uncover the magic of their prosperity is the work I’m here to do.  This is my Soul work.

I would love to help you water that seed within you so that 2012 becomes the year you shift from attempting to create through controlling with your mind to creating prosperity through being from your Soul.

Before I was a business owner, I would have said running a business was based solely on logic and knowledge. Now that I have been in business for myself for over 10 years, I know that while those are important aspects, they aren’t the only ones, nor are they even the most important.

A successful, fertile business owner, one who has a business that is continuously flowing and in parallel with her values and desires, is able to take all the pieces of data that are coming at her and knows when to act, when to let something “percolate,” when to switch strategies, and more.

This ability comes from being able to use all your senses, all parts of you; your internal GPS, if you will.

How do you know, though, that your GPS is giving you accurate information?

Here are three ways that heart-centered, purpose based business owners end up getting faulty information:

  1. Not knowing how, or irregularly connecting with Source

This has nothing to do with religion. We are all Spiritual Beings. We all have our own Source within us that is directly connected to that which is greater than our physical beings.

You have to know how to connect with this part of yourself.

This is not your rational, logical thinking mind. This part of you communicates through feelings, through wants and desires. We tend to ignore this part of ourselves, powering past her, throwing ourselves into action instead.

When you don’t listen to this primary GPS, you end up running around like a chicken with its head cut off, or developing programs you fill but then require working endless hours for little money, or offering programs far from your purpose that don’t ever fill.

  2. Listening to others over YOU

This includes mentors and experts in the field who are continually telling you what you should do: have a particular salary goal, market your business in one particular way, structure your business a particular way.

I’m not saying mentors are bad, just make sure you remember they are simply telling you one way to do something. Of course, none of us needs to re-invent the wheel, working with someone who has “been there, done that” will absolutely shorten the time it takes you to reach success. Having a resource outside of yourself helps you see patterns and roadblocks that are keeping you stuck; I regularly work with mentors.

However, the key to running a heart-centered, purpose-based business is listening to YOU. Your business must be an authentic match to who you are. You must show up as you, you must be comfortable; otherwise, you are going to be running major resistance in your energy system, which has the opposite effect to your success.

  3. Listening to the Inner Critic

We all hear voices in our heads. Really. Unfortunately, those internal voices are often the least help. They whisper things like, “who do you think you are,” or “you’ve been at this for so long, why aren’t you more successful?” or “what are they going to think of me?”

The issue with listening to this inner critic is that this voice tends to be louder than your connection with Source. Unless you’ve practiced listening to your Source, the Inner Critic is ever so much more believable in the moment.

Symptoms of listening to the Inner Critic include procrastination, under charging, and under valuing the gift of what you have to offer, and more.

When you hone your connection with Source, that connection to the deepest part of whom you are, when you weigh others’ words against how it feels to this deep connection, and when you turn down the voice of that Inner Critic, you can’t help but be in the flow of your fertile business.

The Power of Negative Thoughts

From time to time, I find myself stuck in the same old thoughts.  It’s like a merry-go-round in my head; and the wheel is moving so fast that I’m suctioned down, no room for anything new.

At times like these, I tend to be hard on myself.  Okay, very hard.  After all, I help coach people through these thoughts and out onto “the other side”, back into alignment with what they want.  Shouldn’t I be able to do that for myself 24/7?

I’ve been in one of these endless circles recently.  And then just this morning, I received the following “Daily Quote” from Abraham-Hicks:

You are on the leading edge of thought, taking thought beyond that which it has been before.  Who cares that thoughts have led up to this.  You’re in the fresh now, and many of the thoughts that you vehemently oppose are the very thoughts that have given you the desire that has attracted the clarity of where you now stand.

No matter how awful you think they might be, all were of value in the evolution forward.

Every one of them.

No matter where your head is, no matter where your thoughts are, you are right where you need to be.

As soon as I gave myself permission to be right where I was, the merry-go-round stopped; not so fast that I was flung into space, but a slow gradual stop.  So much easier to now reach for the better thought.   So much easier to be back in alignment.

And, I’ve just gained the clarity I need to see another layer of what I truly want.  That’s the power of both the ‘negative’ thoughts and the permission to let yourself be right where you are, right here in the powerful now, using the purpose of your emotions fully.  Letting your emotions be a guide – not a suction cup holding you in an endless repeating pattern.  Letting your emotions be your catalyst to step forward into what you really want.

Today, may you recognize the power of your negative thoughts.

Money and M&Ms

Have you ever been able to spot an “ah-ha” moment coming from a mile away and tried to run as hard as could in the opposite direction?

It makes me think of that ad with the chocolate M&M who is trying to run away from the checker at the register, but the conveyer belt is moving too fast so he loses the battle.  As she stuffs him into the grocery sack, his peanut counterpart in the next bag over exclaims while reviewing a piece a paper, “Hey, we’re on the guest list.”  Sighing, rolling his eyes, and with a dejected voice, the chocolate M&M says, “That’s not the guest list, that’s the menu.”  He knew it, tried to run from it, but it captured him anyway.

Interesting that I would pick a food analogy…but I digress.

I typically run towards those ah-ha moments: bring on the personal growth!  However, I recently ran into something so big that it knocked me flat.

Quick background:  One of the foundational concepts of manifesting is that you need to make the decision about what you want and then the resources will show up for you.  Many of us want to wait until conditions are ‘perfect’ and then act.  This leads to a lifetime of waiting.

When you make the decision fully and completely, the Universe will respond by giving you everything you need to manifest the situation.

I recently became aware that I haven’t truly made the decision to have a wildly successful and abundant business.  Perhaps that sounds odd coming from me, a Prosperity Alignment Healer.

Even though I’ve had good success, I have been consciously ready to take my business to the next level for some time now and it hasn’t been happening for me.    As I delved into the question of why, that’s when it became apparent I haven’t fully made the decision to do whatever it takes to have this wildly successful and abundant business.  If I had, I would be more on my way.

Then the question became, why haven’t I made the decision?  And “what do I need to heal so that I can make the decision?”  As soon as I started asking that question, I had such fear come up I could hardly function for weeks.  I became the chocolate M&M running as fast as I could in the opposite direction.

When I literally couldn’t run anymore, when I finally got quiet, that’s when the ah-ha moment happened.  The biggest reason why I haven’t committed to doing whatever it takes to have a wildly successful business revealed itself.

My body.

My first level of awareness about this issue showed me that my body is not currently healthy enough to handle the increased energy demands of a more successful business.  The weight I’m at doesn’t support me.  Plus I use food to mask difficult emotions.  If I truly decide to do whatever it takes to have a wildly successful and abundant business, I’m going to have to heal this issue.

When I deepened into this issue I realized the biggest component to this block and why it was causing such an intense fear reaction: over the years I have used food to stifle my voice.  I was too afraid of what “they” would think.  I was too afraid that “they” would leave if I was too I muffled my voice with food.  Just felt easier at the time.

The real truth is, I can’t fulfill my life purpose if I muffle my authentic voice.  That’s no longer okay with me.  I have a lot to share.  I have a lot to give.  Its time to have my voice.  Its time to heal my body.

So, I’m making the commitment today to begin the journey to healing my relationship with food.  To let my voice be heard.  To consciously step back into my body so that it can support me as I take my business to the next level, and the next, and the next.

I invite each of you along on the journey with me.  I will have MUCH more to share and say along the way.
