Are You Honoring Your Signs of Land?
One of the earliest stories I hear about myself is from the time I visited my great grandparents in Iowa when I was four. Apparently, I wanted to go to the park but was told the dishes had to be done first.
“Just push the button,” I told my Great-Grammie. In my house, the dishwasher did the magic. In her farmhouse, Grammie did the magic. So, waiting ensued.
I am the first to admit I am rather impatient. I want my results and I want them now.
Am I that unusual?
Here’s the rub, however. Each time we take score and notice what we wanted has yet to manifest, we send a vibrational signal that says, “send me more experiences of not having what I want.”
So what do you do? Where do you place your attention when what you want hasn’t come into being yet?
Florence Scovel Shin has a beautiful metaphor: look for signs of land. She explains it this way: if you are sailing across an ocean, you are anxious to see your destination. But, we often get tired and discouraged before we ever see the shoreline. In fact, we are often so tired and discouraged, we are apt to turn around before we even get there.
However, if we get really discerning, we realize there are many signs of land that show up before we ever see the shoreline. As land gets closer, perhaps little twigs, leaves or other debris from land start to show up in the water. Perhaps there are different birds in the air. Perhaps the water changes color as it gradually becomes shallower.
How does this translate to results we want in life or business?
Imagine your goal is to have more money. Here are some signs of land:
- An unexpected gift
- Finding a dollar bill in your coat pocket from last season
- Awareness of the beauty and abundance around you
- A lightening in your heart about money
- A new level of trust about money
- Moments of expectation
- Coming across a new resource that gives you a new way to think about abundance
The more you can see your own personal signs of land for the goals you want to achieve, the more you hold yourself in the vibration, which will allow that goal to manifest on the physical plane.
If you are willing, my suggestion is to set an intention each morning to become aware of your own personal signs of land.
