Getting rid of what blocks what you want
I found myself in the middle of a “should” today. My husband and I were having a conversation about our financial status and BAM, I ran right into an old pocket of beliefs that said that I should have “x” amount of money by age “x”.
I turn 53 on Friday, so I am not super surprised that some of these old thoughts are rising up to be released; this is certainly a pattern for me in the time surrounding my birthday.
At the same time, though, it highlighted an awareness of something deeper that has been rising to the surface for a while now. I’m recognizing a sense of wanting to “win” in the area of money. It’s confusing as hell because money is NOT a motivator of mine. And at the same time, I feel this subtle pressure of “do I have enough”?
What I am starting to understand is that as humans, we like motivators. We like competition. We like to battle. We like to win. The carrot on the stick was invented because it does get us to act. We’ve been given lots of carrots:
- There’s not enough to go around, so you better get yours before everyone else gets theirs.
- You can only depend on yourself
- Everybody loves a winner
- Winning is everything
- Goals make you come alive
- Don’t let yourself down!
- Don’t let your team, family, boss…down
- And so many more
This loving to win, get ahead, battle through something may be subtle to our conscious mind, but is often a full-fledged engine in our deeper beliefs, driving day-to-day patterns and choices. This is particularly true when you are still playing in the ego-based money system that is so prevalent in our western culture.
When we turn to a more soul-based system, we know that each one of us have access to unlimited resources, that when we work as a community we all end up with larger rewards than when we compete as individuals. We know that there are no prizes awarded after death based on who died with the most money.
Most importantly, we get to shed the “carrot on a stick” motivators and instead use our soul nudges to inspire us toward what is really going to make our hearts sing. Now, that MIGHT be more money! Money isn’t evil or bad or unnecessary. And, there are many, many more resources that can create joy in our daily lives.
Consistently playing in this more soul-based system will yield more consistently joyful results.
How do we do this? That is something I will be going more in-depth around in my upcoming mini-experience AND in the upcoming Soul Abundance Circle.
