In Your Dance with the Divine, Have You Tied the Divine’s Hands?

What does the phrase “co-creation” mean to you?

When using this phrase in conjunction with spiritual teachings, it means creating together with the Divine. This is an amazing gift available to us here on Planet Earth. We have the absolute power of the Divine available to us in every moment; the Divine literally ‘has our backs’ in every moment of every day.

If you are going to be a co-creator with the Divine, be in partnership with the Divine, there is only one rule: you have to let the Divine in. You have to let the Universe truly be your partner.

In partnerships, you each have distinct roles, right?

In co-creation with the Divine, your job is to focus on what you want and then follow through on the Inspired Actions that come.

The Divine’s job is to move the powers of the Universe to make that happen for you.

Sounds simple, right?

Well, honestly, if it were that simple, we’d all have everything we want.

Here’s one issue I see getting in the way. I’ve seen it in myself and I’ve seen it in my clients: we want to control the entire relationship.

Sometimes it comes down to trust.

Sometimes it comes down to having a skewed understanding of the Divine.

Sometimes it comes down to impatience.

Sometimes it comes down to the old stories that we hold about ourselves.

Sometimes it comes down to the value we see (or don’t see) in ourselves.

Sometimes it comes down to fear.

Regardless of what the underlying reason is, the result is that we push away the Divine. We hold so tightly to what we want, trying so hard to control what happens in our lives and businesses, we push out the Divine.

And, the Divine let’s us do it. We’re running the show. If that’s the co-creative experience we want, then the Divine says, “So Be It.” And it is done.

But this makes life hard. And joy-less. And we aren’t able to be in our purpose as effectively.
