You’re More Supported Than You Think

Receiving gets to be part of your everyday life. Let me tell you a story.

As many of you know, my entrepreneurial journey began in the infertility world.

Over the weekend, I received an email from an embryologist who championed my work and ensured that all the women in her clinic knew about my products and services.

In her note, she shared a few kind words and told me she had just purchased one of my offerings for a friend.

Her exact words?

“You’re the best gift I could give.”

But as touching as that was, it wasn’t the most important part of the interaction.

The real gift?

Her email reminded me how well-resourced I am—and how well-resourced I’ve always been. Throughout my entire entrepreneurial journey, I have had person after person act as a referral source, a seed spreader, a connector.

Other than being a commitment to providing the best products and services I can, I did nothing to create those referral sources.

That’s not an ego-based, bragging statement. That is the power of receiving.

There is no way that I could have figured out that an embryologist working in California was going to be someone who could help get the word out about my business. But the Divine knew.

In the same way, I couldn’t have figured out that an acupuncturist would write an internationally successful book, need to reduce the number of pages, and ask if she could simply refer people to my fertility website for meditation CDs. But the Divine knew.

Yes, I took a lot of action steps to be in a position to be able to receive….And it was my willingness to receive—without guilt, shame, or over-efforting—that made the difference.

I was well-resourced then and now.

You get to be too.

You just have to stop:

  • relying on your amazing mind to figure it all out
  • measuring your worth by how much work you’ve put into your business
  • putting up barriers to receiving by feeling shame by “wanting something for nothing”
    ​

And then you get to start:

  • deepening your relationship with the Divine
  • deepening your relationship with money
  • unhooking your worth from what you produce
  • giving yourself grace for the pauses in between receiving
