I Don’t Coach People to Six Figures
A couple of weeks ago I had a pre-interview for a podcast. When the interviewer heard that I work with people around abundance, she asked me what number I coach my clients to: 6 figures? 7 figures?
Neither, I told her.
She blinked at me. I blinked back.
In the moment, I felt super uncomfortable, as if I needed to justify my approach to my business. Because of that discomfort, I was only able to give her a partial explanation: My goal for my clients is for them to have a sumptuous life, whatever that looks like for them.
But here’s the fuller answer.
While you DO need to have an intention, a focus for creating, too often we hook ourselves to precise numbers and focus solely on that result.
Overemphasizing the result creates two issues that work against getting what you want.
- The number becomes a focus for only action. “What can I DO today to MAKE that number happen?” And every moment becomes about measurement. Have I made enough money today? Am I going to make my goal? So many opportunities to notice failure, which in turn slows down your results
- The more problematic aspect is that by focusing on a single number, you only access a small slice of your ability to have what you want. You are a drop of the Divine and have access to all the resources of divinity. Why would you only focus on creating 6 or 7 figures? Don’t you also want to have joy? Freedom? Intimate connections? Deep conversations? Time? Space? Laughter?
Said differently:
When you set your sights on manifesting a specific number goal, it’s like plugging your phone in for a single charge.
You get a boost. It works… for a while. But then it fades. And suddenly, you’re scrambling to plug in again, wondering what went wrong.
But when you learn how to receive by rewiring your Soul Money Relationship, you stop chasing outlets.
You install solar panels. You become someone who’s wired for consistent power. Someone who receives because that’s who you are, not because you hustled the right steps.
Receiving becomes how you live, not something you accomplish.
